Oh well, it’s been a while since I
last posted a content here. But yes, I’m definitely back! (hihi)
Last January 2, 2021, I decided to have my hair cut short and looked for an organization here in the Philippines that
accepts hair donation which will then be used to
create wigs for cancer patients. Then, I came across the blog of Ms. Stefanie Ching—“One Stef at a Time”
where she had a very detailed info about her hair donation experience. She also
listed some organizations that accept hair donations like Kythe- Ateneo,
Strand Up for Cancer by Manila YMCA, Makati Medical Center, Cuts Against
Cancer, and lastly Hair for Hope.
Take note that most organizations prefer pure/ virgin hair, meaning they are not colored, bleached, dyed, and re-bonded. But fret not! Since I have a re-bonded hair, I researched thoroughly in Google and Facebook the details or info about each organization's qualifications. I learned that Heads’ Hair for Hope program is willing to accept re-bonded or straightened hair but preferably NOT colored/ permed. So, I did give it a try!
Want
to know too if your hair is ready for donation? Here’s how.
1. Donated
hair should be at least 12 inches or 30.5 cm long.
2. Make sure
that the hair is clean, dry, and without any styling products like hair spray.
3. The hair
should be tied in a ponytail with a hair elastic band before being cut. You can
have the hair divided into sections to make more ponytails.
4. Put the
hair inside a sealed zip lock plastic bag with the donor’s name, email address,
and social media account.
5. You may
have your own stylist cut the hair then send to Hair for Hope via courier.
6. After
sending your donation, a certificate of appreciation may be requested by sending
email to salonheads.ph@gmail.com.
7. Please send

It was my
very first hair donation and it’s really heartwarming that I got a haircut for
a good cause. Definitely one for the books!
So, before
you decide to cut your hair, you might want to consider donating it to our
brothers and sisters with cancer. Show your love through your hair. Let's spread hope and love this Feb-ibig month!💕
