25 THINGS I LEARNED AT 25!
4:43:00 PM
“Quarter of a century is not an age to laugh about, it is
really a beautiful and glorious age.”
I can’t believe it but I’m a quarter
century old! Yes, this year, I’ve celebrated my Silver Anniversary (hurrah!) and
ever since, I’ve been so blessed and grateful. So, before this year ends, I
want to share 25 things that I learned throughout these years. Hope you’ll learn
a thing or two from this blog post. Let the quarter- life lessons begin!
1. Live a simple life. Live simply and be happy.
Live below your means. You don’t want yourself to be enslaved with debts,
right? Learn to save. However, there’s a little exemption to this… Don’t ever
forget to…
2. Celebrate all your little wins. Little
things matter, yeah? Yeah! Once in a while, treat yourself. If you passed a
test or if your efforts have been acknowledged in the office, why not treat
yourself by buying a Cornetto (Saan aabot
ang 20 pesos mo? Haha!) or order the yummiest pizza in town, or why not
treat your whole family on a movie date?
It won’t hurt your savings anyway. (hihi)
However, not everything in life will go smoothly as we expected, sometimes
we experience…
3. FAILURES.
We should see positively that failure is
the path to success. Sometimes we have to fall so that we can soar higher.
Setbacks are okay. It teaches us to humble ourselves. We just have to be sturdy
to face and overcome our failures because…
4. Everything happens for a reason. Yes, it’s
really true that not all things in life go as we planned, but let us remember
that our great God has the greatest plan for us. It may be absurd to us why
things happen, but let us see things positively and trust HIM and his plans
because as what is said in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans that I have
for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you
a future and a hope.”
5. HOPE. Have hope (Hold On Pain Ends). Guys,
hard times never last. AJA! Fighting! Just hold on and…
6. Be patient. One must always bear in mind that
“patience is a virtue you learn”. There will come a time and a lot of instances
that our patience will be tested, just keep calm, count from 1-100, loosen up,
don’t let anger and impatience rule you. Just be patient because…
7. God’s timing is always right. It just
happens. HE works mysteriously and it will just come. Whatever you’re praying
for, it will be given to you in HIS time because HIS timing is always right,
just continue on…
8. Praying. Pray always. When in doubt, pray. In
times of loneliness, pray. In times of sickness, pray. In times of emptiness,
pray. In times of joy and success, pray. Praying for me is my everyday weapon
against temptations surrounding me and at the same time it’s my way for
constantly communicating to God.
9. I have also
learned that I am not everyone’s cup of
tea and that’s okay. This is reality. Even if you do your best, even if you
do good to others, there will be some who will judge you, curse you, discourage
you, and will hurt you because of the very reason that they don’t like you.
Nevertheless, do your best and just keep going, keep doing what you love, keep
inspiring others who cherishes you, might as well the people who doesn’t like
you, because maybe one day, they will learn to appreciate all the good you have
shown to them. Also, remember to…
10. Be kind. Be kind to unkind people because I believe
that they need it the most, right? Kindness is power. Also, in a world like
today where you can be anyone and anything, be kind anyway. And don’t ever forget to…
11. Be yourself. Embrace and love who you are. Take
delight in your own beauty and abilities because each one of us is uniquely and
magnificently created by our God. Be proud of who you are and trust your God-
given gifts and talents. Just be yourself and wear your prettiest…
12. Smile. “We shall never know all the good
that a simple smile can do.” Smiling is contagious. So, why not share your
prettiest smile to everyone?
13. Another
important lesson I’ve learned in life is
always to be with the right people. Surround yourself with people who are
going to lift you higher and be brave enough to let go of those people who keep
weighing you down. Cherish the right people and love them…
14. Love. What
a big word! But according to Mother Teresa, “If you love until it hurts, there
can be no more hurt, only more love.” The message is very deep but if we
simplify its meaning, it tells us to love more. We were created with love, and
with that love, we should also give love back to others. Let’s love more. And if we love, we should also…
15. Be faithful. Be faithful with your God, be
faithful with your loved ones, be faithful in your work, be faithful in
everything you do. Keep the faith. Be steadfast. And if you’re faithful, you
are willing to give…
16. Time. Time is gold, a very famous cliché but
as you grow older, you’ll realize that time is very precious, as precious as
gold… or more. (hehe) I learned that
we should spend our time with the right people—with our loved ones. As they
say, time has a wonderful way of showing us what and who really matters.
17. Share your blessings and give tithes. As what
they say, “Don't just count your blessings, share them.” Also, as payback to our
God, it is our responsibility to give tithes. I give because I have received; I
received because I gave. Share and…
18. Choose to be happy. Challenges, failures and
heartaches may come, but try to see the goodness in every situation. Remember
that you have a million reasons to be happy. “Happiness isn’t a result of
something you own or something you achieve, but rather it’s something you choose.”
So, choose wisely. J Likewise,
remember to…
19. Give your best in everything that you do. Small or
big tasks, give your very best. Do more. Magis. You just have to believe in
what you can do. Give your 101%. Aja! Give
your very best so that you can…
20. Make your parents proud. If you give
your best in everything that you do, may be it at school or at work, you make
your parents proud of you. It’s not only your success, but it’s also your
parents’ success. So, aim to make your parents happy and proud, in that way,
we’ll be able to payback all their sacrifices and love that they’ve dedicated
to us.
21. I’ve also
learned that “Distance is not for the
fearful, it is for the bold.” Before turning 25, I’ve been in a long-
distance relationship (LDR). Never before I imagined myself of being in this situation,
but God led me to this path and I’ve realized that indeed, distance is not for
the fearful, it is for the bold. As for now, distance gives us a reason to love
and trust harder. Hurrahs for couples who are in a Long-Distance Relationship!
22. Explore as far as you can. Travel and
explore. Travel expands you. It’s a pursuit well worth saving for. When
travelling and exploring new places, it widens our horizons and we’ll realize
that our world has a lot to offer. It also tells us that…
23. Life is beautiful. It is worth living for. Life
for me is like a road, there are rough and rocky roads, smooth and cemented
ones, but in the end, life is always beautiful. It’s a beautiful life so live life to the
fullest… and…
24. Always remember that you deserve nothing but the best!
Yes, the best! Lastly…
25. Always be grateful. At this point in my life,
I’ve learned to appreciate the
little things. After all, little or big things matter. Even on our
difficulties, we still have to be grateful because it will make us a stronger
person. Just expect nothing and appreciate everything. You know, gratitude
multiplies happiness. Last piece of advice from a 25-year-old woman, begin and
end your day always with a grateful heart.
“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that counts. It’s the life in your years.”
- Abraham Lincoln
